WELCOME TO FUNKO HIGH

Creators & Makers were commissioned by Funko and Loungefly to create a standout window installation for Hamleys’ flagship Regent Street store, bringing together some of Disney’s most iconic properties in a completely new way.
The brief was to move away from a traditional character-led product display and create something unexpected, playful and relevant to Funko’s older “kidult” collector audience. With the installation coinciding with the back-to-school period, we explored a number of creative routes before developing the concept of Funko High — a stylised American high school corridor where each locker opens into a different Disney world.
Marvel, Pixar, Disney Princess, Star Wars and The Nightmare Before Christmas were each given their own individually designed locker. Colour, graphics, props and product styling gave every section its own personality while allowing the entire installation to work as one cohesive scene.
We developed a bespoke Funko High identity inspired by traditional American high school branding and set the lockers against a distressed brick backdrop with concrete-effect flooring. The environment was then layered with graffiti, handwritten notes and contemporary references informed by research into youth language and visual culture, alongside school-inspired props including textbooks, sports equipment and skateboards.
Each locker became a miniature storytelling environment, populated with Funko POP!, Bitty POP! and Mystery Minis alongside Loungefly backpacks, bags and accessories. Products weren’t simply placed on shelves; they became part of the scene, mixed amongst personal possessions and visual details designed to suggest the different characters had taken over their own lockers.
One locker, however, remained firmly closed.
Created as a teaser for the upcoming Doomsday movie, the black Marvel locker was secured with an oversized chain and padlock. An eerie green light escaped from around the edges, accompanied by the message “Doomsday Coming Soon”, creating intrigue without revealing what was inside.
From the initial creative concepts and visual development through to technical design, bespoke fabrication, graphics, lighting, prop making, product styling and installation, the entire display was designed specifically for the Hamleys Regent Street window.
The finished installation transformed the window into a densely detailed Funko High world — designed to reward a quick glance from across Regent Street while giving those who stopped to look a host of smaller details, references and products to discover.
